Bargain Fair 2010 - A Huge Success! By: Pam Van Nutt
The 2010 Bargain Fair, sponsored by The Charity League of
Martinsville and Henry County, was held on Saturday, October 2,
2010 at the National Guard Armory. Preparation for Bargain Fair
takes almost a year as each Charity League member collects,
stores, and prices donations from their generous sustainers, and
then finally unloads all the donations into the Armory in
preparation for the actual event.
Our hard work and dedication certainly paid off, and this
year’s Bargain Fair was an amazing success. All the wonderful
donations and the work of our members, their families, and the
support of the community helped us to exceed last year’s sales
by approximately $3,000 (quite an accomplishment in today’s
economy). Through Bargain Fair each year, The Charity League
raises thousands of dollars which is put back into our local
economy to aide and assist children in our community. In
addition to this worthwhile event, our members also volunteer
hours of their time within the community through various nonprofit
organizations.
If sustainers have items they would like to donate for next
year’s Bargain Fair, please let us know as we are now able to
collection donations throughout the year!
The Charity League will be back at the National Guard
Armory on November 5th and 6th for our 2nd Annual Holiday
Crafters Market. We eagerly anticipate this fun event, and look
forward to everyone coming by the Armory to do some
Christmas shopping while supporting The Charity League at the
same time!
