Despite the declining economy, the 2009 Bargain Fair made more money than the year before. Hopefully, this has started a new trend of the 2010 Bargain Fair to make even more money for the various programs that Charity League supports. Main goal that guided me when I started my position as the Bargain Fair chairman this year was to make more money and make this a “well-oiled machine” so that everything would move along smoothly. Being the head of this major fundraiser for the League was a little scary for me considering I am so soft-spoken, but with my organizational skills I figured I could achieve this
task to keep the pattern of success going.

My co-chair Pam Van Nutt and I devised a plan to drive a successful Bargain Fair year. First, we started out with a provisional orientation meeting to ensure the new ladies in the League would not get overwhelmed at the first meeting with all the information related to Bargain Fair. Pam opened her home
for this meeting to take place where there was a crash course of everything you need to know about Bargain Fair. Second, we continued to pick up donations all year long from sustainers and others in the community to having a larger supply of merchandise. Third, we continued advertising in Spanish.
Finally, we were really selective to make sure we were offering quality merchandise for the community shoppers. The success of this year’s Bargain Fair was a wonderful testament to all the work of the League members, sustainers, volunteers, and community organizations that made donations to our event.

Pam Van Nutt is already working tirelessly transitioning into the 42nd Annual Bargain Fair 2010. Making Bargain Fair a huge success is a major goal that Pam has for the reviving of our event and as she takes control of the event I will assist her in anything she needs. We both look forward to your suggestions. Please contact me at dmoyer@healthycommunitymhc.org or
(336) 613-1548 or Pam at pvannutt@gmail.com or (276) 358-0694.
Also, donations will continue to be picked up from sustainer’s throughout the year. Sustainers please contact your actives whenever you have donations to be picked up. Actives, any donations you pick up between now and June may be stored at the warehouse and priced in marking parties.
Thanks everyone for your hard work and support of Bargain Fair 2009!
