2nd Annual Charity League Pro-Am Putt-Putt Tournament
By Laura Jones, Fundraising Chair

On Friday, March 20th, members and friends of the Charity League gathered at the Laurel Park Putt-Putt to play in the 2nd Annual Pro-Am Tournament.
The evening started off with a hot dog supper and a chance for the amateurs and the professional putt-putt players to become better acquainted. After dinner, amateurs were able to practice with the professionals for some time before official play started. Again this year, participants were asked to find at least five sponsors to make a donation per hole in one or make a flat donation amount.
The amateurs were able to raise over $1600 this year. Our top fundraiser was Nicholas Brunner, who raised over $500 this year. He was awarded a $50 Wal-Mart Gift Card for his fundraising efforts. This year, we were able to get even more prizes for our hole-in-one prizes.
The Charity League would like to thank the following businesses for their contributions: Applebee’s, Arts, Etc., Avon – Jennifer Sigmon, Binding Time, BB&T, Chick-Fil-A, Daily Grind, Anointed Hands Massage & Bodywork, Dillon Insurance, El Ranchito, Movie Town, Pigs R Us, Reflections, Sheila Hubbard, Spencer Group Real Estate, State Farm – Jason Dove, Taco Bell, Wal-Mart, Wendy’s, and of course Laurel Park Mini Golf.
The winning team in this year’s tournament consisted of amateurs Beverly and Stephen Cecil and professionals Jay Klapper and Roy Sigmon. Randal Smith, event organizer, presented a plaque to Beverly and Stephen on Sunday before the final round of professional play. Speaking of her win, Beverly said, “Stephen and I were so excited to have won the putt putt tourney. We proudly display the plaque we received from our win in our home. Stephen loves telling the story of how we are now official amateur putt-putt champions.”
When asked if she plans to have a repeat performance next year, Bev noted that they have already begun their training for next year’s tournament. We would love for even more participation next year. As soon as a date is set for the 3rd Annual Charity League Pro-Am Putt-Putt Tournament, it will be published in the newsletter.
