Lucy is married to the illustrious A.C. Wilson, and they always attend preview parties together. Lucy says that, although she never needs a thing, she always purchases something. “It finds me,” she laughs. One of her favorites
is a Victorian table that had been painted yellow and looked just awful. Lucy saw past the yellow, however, and now that it has been refinished, “that thing has been used constantly!” She also cherishes a simple sewing machine
from Eursula Penn with all the parts.

One of her favorite memories of being in League was working on transportation for the girls club. They would meet at the old YMCA after school, having refreshments and a program. She would often take some of the girls home, which made her realize “I thought I knew my hometown, but I found myself in areas I’d never heard of.” When some of the girls were ashamed of their homes, they would ask her to let them out early, which Lucy didn’t feel comfortable doing. The perpetual optimist, Lucy always
found something positive about the homeplace and would complement the girl. Even f it was an old dog that greeted the car, Lucy would build it up and by the time she let the girl out of the car, “you would think that old dog
was on the show circuit!”

Known for the beautiful blooms at her home and at the other properties that she and her husband tend to, Lucy is an active member of Martinsville Garden Club. These days, Lucy spends most of her time being involved
in the Garden Club of Virginia as a judge for arrangements in flower shows. She also enjoys visiting with her granddaughters, Eliza and Lucy, who live in South Carolina, (baby #3 on the way this year!), and her daughter in Asheville, North Carolina.
