The Boys and Girls Club of Martinsville Henry County (BGCMHC) became a Charity League placement in 2005, one year after the first club sites opened in our area. Currently, the clubs have 5 locations, which provide a safe, positive, after-school environment for kids from Kindergarten thru age 18. On average, the clubs serve over 350 kids daily. With such a large volume of kids being served, volunteers are much needed and greatly appreciated. The Charity League placement requires volunteers to work 4 hours per months at one of the B&GC sites. Volunteer’s duties range from helping students with homework, setting up snack, leading recreational activities or crafts and general supervision of the kids. Charity League member, Theresa Bechtel has chosen this placement for the past 4 years. “I’ve found this placement to be one of the most rewarding. The kids and staff at Boys and Girls Club are wonderful and so appreciative of the time I give to them.” To learn more about the Boys and Girls Club, or to volunteer your time, visit www.bgcmhc.org or call Anne Frazier at (276) 656-1171.
