The Board of Governors met Thursday, January 24th, 2008 at the home of Virginia Hamlet. Approximately 20 past presidents gathered to hear the annual state of the league address. President Cindy Edgerton welcomed everyone and thanked Virginia Hamlet for hosting this years meeting. After introducing First Vice President Tiffani Underwood and Recording Secretary Valerie Brunner, Edgerton gave the Presidents Report for 2007. She updated the Board on the various activities and placements of the league, including new fundraising efforts at the Farmers Market and some new ideas for Bargain Fair 2008. Edgerton also noted that the league would be welcoming 10 new members as the class of 2014!

Tiffani Underwood presented the Treasurer’s Report and then gave the Scholarship report as well. In 2007, the League awarded 24 scholarships to area students to continue their education and the scholarship committee has already begun receiving requests for renewable scholarships for 2008. The League is also starting a project to track those students who receive scholarships from the League, so if you know anyone who has received a Charity League Scholarship in the past, please let us know.

Following the reports, the presidents discussed Bargain Fair as well as membership numbers. In spite of the declining member numbers, all those in attendance were very impressed with the amount of work the League is able to accomplish each year.
