The week of April 16-21, 2007, the Charity League hosted its annual Missoula Children's Theatre for the 10th year. A new version of the old tale, "The Little Mermaid," was presented by 58 local youth, including nine children of CL members or sustainers.

After auditioning Monday and practicing all week with the two actors from Missoula, Montana, the youth presented two very entertaining shows on Saturday, the 21st. These actors commented that this was one of the most fun groups of children they had worked with.

The children and their families were very appreciative of the opportunity to take part in such an amazing production as many smiles were seen and thank yous heard. These included a letter from a youth, Melissa Seamon, who auditioned hoping for a main part in the play but who was assigned as an assistant director. Of her experience, she writes, "...I discovered that in the course of only one week, one's whole perspective can change and one's entire future can be transformed. If I hadn't stepped out of my comfort zone and taken the risk (to audition), I never would have discovered all the richness that I was missing! My experience at Missoula taught me several important lessons that are becoming more a part of me each and every day. Knowing how these lessons changed me and my life, I would love to share them with you!

Some of the things I have learned are:
1. Happiness is attractive. A smile is the best natural make-up there is!
2. Laughter is contagious. Even though it is the best medicine, laughter spreads like the flu!
3. New can be good. Don't be afraid to try new things. Without a little spice now and then, life gets stale, and nobody likes moldy biscuits!
4. Sometimes when you commit your time, you get paid back way more than what you invested. Time is passing, and life won't wait forever. Dedicate your time to a worthwhile cause and you'll get a huge, hearty helping of life in return!

I would like to thank the Charity League members for all their hard work and dedication to our community, making my wonderful experience with Missoula Children's Theatre possible."
