The League's Emergency Fund has a special mission in our community. This fund is designated to assist area families with children who do not fit need assistance profiles in local and state agencies. Bennette Zentmeyer, Emergency Fund Coordinator, stated, "Most of the calls received for assistance are from working parents who just cannot make monthly ends meet. We send a check to the requesting agency and they oversee its' use. Good families are in need of basic necessities like water, power, gas and rent. Our donation joins with money from area churches and other non-profit organizations to specifically help those who are trying to keep their family and lives together." The stories are heartbreaking and the needs are many. Through the small monetary assistance the League is able to give, the return is priceless for struggling families with children in Martinsville and Henry County.
