For over ten years, the Charity League has committed to coordinate with the Salvation Army to fill Christmas stockings for needy children in Martinsville and Henry County. We continued this tradition by filling 500 stockings.

Members met during the November monthly meeting to play Santa's elves. Stockings were stuffed with practical items like socks, hats, gloves, toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss, as well as fun things like toys, crayons, and Playdoh.

Special thanks are extended to those who contributed monetarily. If you are interested in donating to this cause, funds are still being collected and may be mailed directly to the League office.

We would also like to thank the local dentists and orthodontists who generously donated dental supplies, pencils and pens. Thank you to Alice Mitchem, ICS Coordinator with the Martinsville Wal-Mart, for the time and attention she gave to make sure the stuffer was a success. Through the spirit of giving, the local community and the League will make this Christmas brighter for many children.
